The planning process is underway for a new 15,000 square foot replacement library at the current site. The $6 million new library will include more materials, computers, space for children and teens and a community meeting room.

Three architectural firms responded to KCLS’ solicitation for a consultant team to assist with the site planning and design process for the new library. Representatives from each firm will soon be invited for interviews by a panel that will include representatives from Federal Way. The consultant team will be part of a project team comprised of community members, library staff and a KCLS Board Member, which will be tasked with reviewing the current library site and assessing options for the library.
