Opera Preview: AmeliaAmelia opera preview


Amelia, Seattle Opera's first world premiere opera in more than three decades, is a result of a collaboration between Daron Aric Hagen (music) and Gardner McFall (libretto) and is based on an original story by Seattle favorite, Stephen Wadsworth.

This lecture will presented by veteran lecturer, Norm Hollingshead, who will illustrate his commentary with musical excerpts. Read more

Jobs in general – as well as the job of looking for work – have changed dramatically over the past decade. In this workshop you will learn how to shift your approach to match the new environment and smooth your path to finding employment. Topics include:  adjusting to the reality of the contemporary labor market, developing a work plan for a successful job search, the secret to getting the job you want, where to find free quality career counseling, information on the top paying professions, where to find training, how to discover your “value add” to employers, key fundamentals in preparing a resume, networking for interviews, acing the job interview, and where to find other job search resources.

Duncan Burgess is Director of the WorkSource at South Seattle Community College. Duncan has 15 years higher education experience specializing in workforce development. Duncan in past years has been an executive recruiter and has worked with the League of Innovation, American Association of South Seattle Community College WorkSourceCommunity Colleges, and major government entities. On the industry side he has developed and run national industry funded programs in higher education for Microsoft, The Boeing Corporation, Thompson Learning, McGraw Hill, Prentice Hall, and Profsofttraining.com.
