Literacy*AmeriCorps Mission Statement

How We Serve

Each member serves at one of our partner service sites five days a week, providing literacy education and support services to students. Support services may include volunteer recruitment and management, event planning, program development, lesson planning, and service learning projects with students. A staff member from each service site supervises the AmeriCorps member during the service year.

In addition to our literacy service, we work within our communities on local service projects. All team members plan and participate in projects. Past projects include Earth Day tree planting, trail renovation events, a soccer tournament for homeless and low-income students, painting murals with students at a local grade school, washing American Red Cross vehicles on Martin Luther King Day.

Literacy*AmeriCorps participates in up to 10 service projects each program year. We love to work with community partners because collaboration benefits everybody.
